The British Institute of Professional Photography represents the professional photographic industry to Government and is recognised by educational councils and colleges as the leading voice in the profession. The British Institute of Professional Photography has its own Code of Professional Conduct, to ensure a high standard of professional practice and integrity.

It gives detailed requirements for applications to the three grades of qualified (corporate) membership of the British Institute of Professional Photography: Licentiateship member of the British Institute of Professional Photography (LBIPP), Associateship member of the British Institute of Professional Photography (ABIPP) and Fellowship member of the British Institute of Professional Photography (FBIPP). 

'The Photographer' The British Institute of Professional Photography's acclaimed journal of imaging and imaging technology is published ten times a year and is distributed free to all members.
